personal training

Reclaiming the transformative power and joy of our sacred bodies.

At Sacred Bodies we reclaim the nuance and complexities of our bodies and we celebrate our messy, beautiful, nonlinear, poetic growth processes. We emphasize an approach to training and strength building that is meant to bring healing to our wounds from systemic oppression, with an emphasis on working with our fatphobia and the way it intersects with white supremacy, capitalism, and ableism. This approach is compassionate, goal driven, iterative, and process centered, understanding that the most sustainable path to a lifelong commitment to fitness is one that feels good and brings us joy.

Our sustainable approach to training is one where we cultivate an understanding that our physical bodies don’t exist on their own; they are in relationship with our spiritual and emotional bodies, the Earth, and the systems we inhabit. To nurture sustainability in our relationships to movement through our bodies, we benefit from integrating an approach that also seeks to heal our relationships with the dominant culture conditioning that we’ve inherited that thrives on the perpetuation of ideas that our bodies are not already inherently whole, good, and sacred just as they are. That in order for us to be “successful” and valuable we need to achieve something other than what we already are, especially if you are not a white, thin, cis-heteronormative, able-bodied person.

The mission of Sacred Bodies calls us to transmute and bring love to the wounds we’ve sustained from these forceful, exploitative, hateful, and shame ridden conditioning our bodies have been exposed to, working with the compost of our healing processes to cultivate relationships with our bodies grounded in acceptance, pleasure, and accountability. Our bodies are divine! We are invited to reclaim our relationships to our physical bodies by remembering their profound capacities (even when our movement is limited), celebrating the ways in which they are unique and always changing, and by practicing acceptance of them in all their iterations. We model and encourage a paradigm shift in our ways of relating to training that reclaims movement and exercise as vehicles for our collective liberation, paths where we get to enjoy and celebrate our bodies and reclaim the power and beauty they hold. Love is waiting for us deep within our sacred bodies!
